Lotus Flower

I photographed this perfect Lotus flower in a private garden in Hawaii. A water lily, lotus are among the most ancient of flowering plants and may be the missing evolutionary link between flowering plants and seed plants such as pine cone bearing trees. Shrouded in the mystery of myth and legend, Lotus are considered sacred to some regions and religions. Lotus lilies are the only plant to simultaneously flower and bear fruit, and their seeds can germinate as long as 200 years after being shed.
